The most popular squid tubes in the world is Illex squid tubes. It is also called Argentine short-finned squid and caught in the Southwest Atlantic area. The catch of Argentine squid (Illex argentinus) in the Southwest Atlantic began in the early 1980s, reached a historical high in1999, and dropped thereafter. Two third of the catches of Illex are taken by Argentina, the rest mainly by the distant fishing fleet of Taiwan.
